Blown upper gear set.....Friday the 13th

I blew one of my upper gear sets friday (should have new better than boat on fri, 13) Anyway, I was wondering if I can switch out my entire upper sections with XR's without too much trouble? I thought they were interchangeable but I'm not sure. If not how much do I have too change?
