Iv'e installed about 100 of those things at the shop, no problems and have never needed a shim for one. No need for the support bracket cuase they don't weigh 50 pounds anymore. They are also a hell of alot easier to install on twin applications on the port engine.

the nice thing about the small is lighter weight,for starting the bolts in,most of the time it would be nice to have the smaller one,cause they ain't never out in the open,tight quarter's.

The small starter uses a planetary gear reduction transmission inside to increase torque output. The are plenty powerful little buggers. You willl find the same starter under your GM trucks.

There is even a smaller one out on the market now. They were installing one on a Chevelle on HORSEPOWER TV last weekend.
