I was refering to doing this once. No reason to just run the 105 out by itself. Use it to your advantage and mix it with some lower cost fuel.

Griff has the right idea. Burn down a little and the top with 93 octane fuel. AV gas runs great. I had a leaking fuel sender unit in one of the tanks of the plane this year. To change the fuel sender I had to drain the tank. Everything ended up with av gas. The generator, pressure washer, all the gas cans and lastly the truck. The stuff has lots of lead in it and it can hurt a cat converter. Anyhow the truck has never run better. The stuff will also last forever. It will not go bad quickly like car gas. It is truely a fuel of choice.

I run av fuel all the time in my boat, fuel injected blower motor shuts down from knock sensor on 91 octane. Where do you find 93 octane? All they sell in Az. is 87, 89, or 91. I've thought about mixing 91 and av fuel but the price is about 3.05 a gallon for av fuel and 2.70 for 91, not worth my time driving it around to save 10 dollars when I fill it up it once every two or three times to the lake. I was thinking of trying some of that octane boost stuff because I had bought a bunch of it once in case I couldn't get some high octane stuff anywhere but have been too chicken to trust it. Does that stuff really work? Anybody ever use it?

I've heard the octane boost does not work.
I think I'll just burn off some more AV and then fill up.
I'm trying to find what prop works w/ the new engine and the AV gas isn't allowing the engine to give me true figures.

Any guess how many MPH I could be losing from AV gas?
On dyno... 560hp @ 5800 / 550lb/ft @ 4800.
Was running 75 @ 5500 w/ more to go.

Not true. Aircraft have mixture controls for adjusting fuel mixture at altitude.

I stand by my statement. In easier english high octane gas does not make horsepower (engine power and efficiency), it allows you to use more compression to make more horsepower.

yes i understand that if you do not need the higher octane fuel then it hurts power it does not make more power ?? sheesh??
