EGT reading weird

Hi!

I trust you are well.

We just installed EGT probes on my Promax 300 SVS. They were drilled and tapped in the exhoust adapter below the cowl pan. Each probe were centered in the exhaust cavity.

However, the two instruments read different. The right bank reads 300F higher than the left bank from idle to wot. Strange. Fx. at idle the right bank reads approx. 800F and the left reads 500F. At WOT the right bank reads 1250F and the left reads 950F....

I have used the boat 1 hour only this spring, and the injectors are just cleaned and balanced.

My tech shortened the right bank lead close to the EGT instrument to make the installation neater. Could the different length of the leads cause the 300F difference in temp?

If I am correct an optimal reading at WOT should be between 1150F - 1250F. Above 1300F imply a lean condition?

Any ideas?

Cheeeers, Toffen G

Toffen Why don't you switch the wires at the gauges to see if there is any difference? 950F sounds wat to cold
