No,
Those pits come factory installed.

It's kind of like laying sod over a new grading with random spots of trash sprinked about....pretty soon the uglyness will show up.

6 gear sets at 1800 a set + labor.
I was told the other day Merc. has tuned up, the gear die. Seems the run out, is not all over the map now. Guess; they made enough off all these gears to ramp up a new one.
