Default why am i blowing clutches

have put in the 2nd clutch in one month what is causing it to keep spinning I have a 7.4 mercruser with a alpha outdrive
26ft searay is there a beefer clutch I need to buy ?what would it take to go to a better outdrive would this solve my problem

Change to a Bravo 1 drive and gimble assembly.

what would this entail ,what kind of performance gain would
this get me , have a lot of mechanical back ground but an out drive is foreign to me

they call it a clutch, resembles a tourqe converter made of rubber ,the out drive driveshaft inserts into it

That is a coupler, what exactly is failing on it?

both times i was running about 38-4200 rpm and it was like
the prop fell off engine smoking of rubber engine temp rose
quikly they said it was the clutch cost me $1200 to yank the
engine & have it replaced the 2nd one lasted about 6 hrs
babying it

If you're blowing couplers, you most likely have an engine alignment problem. Alignment should be checked whenever a coupler fails. This has nothing to do with the drive you're using.

What Bowtie said.
You need to borrow mercruiser alignment tool and have someone show you how to use it. Sounds like your engine is shifting around. My coupler has been in there 12 years.
