Re: Rub Rail, can I do it myself?
I did it last week on my boat. Use a heat gun when bending around the bow and stern. It makes the corners much prettier. Also, be sure not to over tighten the screws or you will see dimples. I used the taco universal semi rigid rubrail. It was easier than I had thought.

Re: Rub Rail, can I do it myself?
I did mine myself on my 27'. Lot easer then I thought. My boat originaly had the anodize aluminum rails. I replaced it with TACO vinyl with rubber insert. It handles impact much better then the aluminum. A heat gun is a MUST!
The price of the rails where'nt that much. The kicker was the shipping. They wanted around a $150 to ship, because of the length. Had them just cut them down to 7ft lengths. Shipping was free then. |
Re: Rub Rail, can I do it myself?
Simple to do. I did mine this morning (4 1/2 hours, two people). Just have patience, use the heat gun on LOW, have two screw guns (one for drilling and the other to fasten), a couple good gloves to wear when forming the rail around the contours of the boat. I thought it would take alot longer than it did.
