Engine weight

Hi,
I have an 1988 42 Fountain as I`re build. I`shall install twin Detroit diesel (6V92) but I`am concerned about the weight. What is the max weight this boat support?

What is the weight of your diesels? What engines do you have in the boat now???

You can use this link to find the weight of your current engines.

Re: Engine weight

Those engines are gonna be way to heavy for that boat. They weigh about 2300 pounds a piece as compared to about 8-900 for a typical marine gas engine. I can't say as to weather the hull will support the weight or not but I know preformance will be horrible with them. look into some newer diesels. A pair of Yanmar 315's would be a nice power option for that boat. They weigh more like 1300 pounds(600 Kilograms) each.
