Need info on blue printing the bottom of a boat

It looks like the bottom of my boat has both rocker, hook and other inconsistencies. Can anyone recommend a shop in the Northwest or Western United States that is reputable? Has anyone done this themselves? The boat has a very bad porpoising problem.

rslick,
Check with local fiberglass repair shops and get their take on doing bottoms.
You basically pick a point on the keel, lets say 6'-10' forward of the transom and then draw a line back to the corners of the. This triangle area is then looked at to be "flat, straight, and symetrical from one side to the other, and all the edges need to be sharp". This can be accomplished using a long straight edge with sand paper on it.. guide coate, etc.

This is the short version of blueprinting. How much variation did you see in the bottom? 1/8"-1/4"? And did you check for soft spots? You have use a lot of force to find a soft spot, but if the bottom is moving, blue printing wont do much good..

Hope this helps
Dick

I have not checked for soft spots yet. THe variation was between 1/8'' and 3/16''. How far can you sand before you are getting into the fiberglass structure of the hull?
