high rpm stalling

Went out today and ran for quite a few hours with no problems, running no more than 3500 rpm. Dropped the wife and kids off and went to have some fun and after a couple of hard runs running close to , if not at WOT, the motor would quit for a few seconds and then start right back up (like it was hitting the rev limitter). This happened at different rpm ranging from 4000-4500.
I have a 502/415 EFI Magnum that is pretty much stock.
Where should I begin?????
Any help appreciated.
Joe

Check fuel delivery [gas filter]

Re: high rpm stalling

That was my first thought, but I thought that if it was a filter problem it would seem to be more of a "sputtering" performance and would not seem like I'm losing "total" power of the engine. Or, is this what would be more common in an EFI?

Had a cracked fitting in the fuel line upstream of the fuel pump. Must of been suckin' air. All better now.
Thanks
Joe

Re: high rpm stalling

Just happened to be tightening things up and when I came to that, it just seemed to tighten and tighten and tighten and tighten. I can't beleive that there was never ANY fuel leakage. I'm glad it wasn't on the downside of the fuel pump. That could of been bad!!!!!

If it is Mercs TPS system, replace the filter on the bottom of the high preasure pump. Located in the TPS tank. This will fix your problem. I had a 97 baja & had to replace the filters just about every year. :D
