Where did you mount your electric fuel pump?
 

anyone have pics? I'd like mine on the motor so it comes with it if you pull the mill....what do you think?

Bad idea. Get it as low and close as possible to the tank pickup. Electrics push fuel, they dont suction well at all.
On my chris cat, I mounted on the bulkhead forward of the engine. The tank was on the other side of the bulkhead and the pump mounted at the same level as the bottom of the tank.

Carb? or fuel injection?.... If it's a carb pump... it should be mounted as close to the bottom of the fuel tank as possible. That is why they are generally mounted on the bulkhead in front of the engine ( close to the fuel tank ) and down as low as practical. Electrical fuel pumps don't have much "drawing power", but lots of pumping power. That is why the filter is generally put after the pump instead of before the pump. If you mount a Holley electric fuel pump above the height of the tank it will howl as it draws fuel up and out of the tank.

I currently have a mechanical pump feeding twin turbo 454's. I would like to switch over to electric pumps, but I am not sure what brands and models are CG approved. Also is there a pump that I can use now with my low pressure carbs that I can turn up the pressure later when I switch over to fuel injection?

ita a carb motor and a holley pump...I'll mount it on the bulk head then..

Go with the Mallory! I have nothing but bad luck with the Holley's.

would it be ok to run two pumps for a single engine, my two tanks are in front of the cockpit and I have mounted an electric pump on the bulkhead in front of the engine, will I need another to push the fuel to this pump? Both tanks run into a control block with a switch and then goes out one gas line to the engine. On this line is where my pump is. It is about six feet from the tanks and it is a carb motor

I dont want to say anything bad about Holleys, but my advice would be go with the Mallory. And the USCG approved Mallory is only about $10 more than the auto.

6 ft is asking for problems. If you run 2 pumps in series, you'll double the pressure if they're internally regulated. Remount the pumps at the tank and use a single pump.
Also check your"control block" ( I assume that's a fuel selector valve). It may not be rated for pressurized fuel and may be impractical with an electric.

Also note, your fuel water separators, usually mounted on the engine, are NOT rated for pressurized fuel. Mount them between the tank and pump.

Mount the pump as low as possible. Try to set the line so it will catch a little fuel and help prime the pump. Even then plan on replacing the pump every couple of years. I'd also recommend adding a return line so the pump doesn't labor as hard.

mag-yes you can, but the return lines become complicated. The nice thing about two pumps is that you now have a backup pump. I've prooven that to be a handy feature.
