Raylar,

I like the flat torque curve of your purple engines too---very broad! Of course, I am a fan of smooth idles too! :D

Re: How long did you wait for your custom motors?

KAAMA needs to change his screen name to "smooth idleing KAAMA". I built my own custom motor and bought all of the parts brand new. It was a hell of a lot of fun getting everything and putting together the combo. Just the parts take a fair amount of time to get. My 355 CNC Dart heads took about 4 weeks. I could have gotten them out of Summit in 2 days, but the springs and valves would have been wrong so I did it right and it took more time. Same thing with my block and rotating assembly. Once I had all of the parts I took my sweet building the motor over the winter. These things take time and I think 8-12 weeks is acceptable as long as both parties agree on what to build up front. :drink:

I have approximately 21 hours on my engines since they were installed. They will actually idle down to 700rpm in nuetral without stalling or even sounding like they will stall. The engines run awesome. No oil leaks. Touch the keys and they start/fire right up! I am very happy with the outcome thanks to Dave Wesseldyk of WESCO who built and dyno tuned my engines, Bob/"rmbuilder" of Marine Kenetics of whom I purchased the heads from, and selected the cams according to what I asked, and Jim Valako/"JimV" who did some massaging to the exhaust ports of the heads.

By the way, I have noticed "lchornet" and all his posts have been deleted---no trace of his screen name except for what I have quoted him as saying. I think he had been "found out" by OSO.

I have only one question for you. You spent 3 months telling me that you were getting lied to about Jack, and that Jack wasn't sick. You even told me that I was telling you lies when I said it to you. So do you still want to call me a liar about it? Or have you figured out that maybe I was telling you the truth the whole time?

Doug/Zone 5,---it still doesn't pass the smell test to me. It's kinda funny because you have hidden behind other screen names on here in the past so what's the diff? Unless you have changed, then why would it change? You were under another screen name with the name that had "Formula" in it before and you revealved who you were when we got in it about the cams that Jack installed in my engines.

Have I figured it out as to how many people are laughing at my engine combination?----why?---should I be counting? Let them laugh Doug. I am not an offshore racer, it's not a life support system and I doubt it's going to change the world. If you read what I wrote before 100 years from now it isn't going to make a difference what I did to my engines. Why would it matter to me Doug?---I am not trying to sell anything to anyone on here. I tell you what----don't do what I did then---let it be a great lesson to you, and everyone what NOT to do with a marine engine---you can carry a sign around with you BEWARE OF KAAMA's ENGINES!!! It's a hobby Doug! Anyway, what's the difference what others exactly think about my engines anyway?---they run great and I am happy---so what's it to ya? You told me you had to have your heads gone through once you got your boat/engine back from Jack, but hey if you were happy with how your boat ran since the mods what would it be to me to tell you differently or cut down your stuff?

As far as Jack goes, when someone lies, and deceives you over, and over again at what point can you tell when he is NOT lying to you? Where does the trust start again? I tried with him---it didn't work. I tried trusting him, but I couldn't. That's between he, and I. I may continue warning others about some of the pitfalls in hiring an engine builder on here, but since his passing a few weeks ago it is fruitless mentioning Jack's name any further.

Hey, if you don't trust me that's fine----cuz I certainly don't trust you.

My little 509 idles at 700 in gear all day long, with a 741 in it. I hope to h ell that that big azz engine of yours, with less cam can do it. You must have the first 565 that makes 525 HP.

It's kind of like show & tell Doug. I come on here to show others some of the things I have done. I volunteer info for others to see just to give them some ideas, but they can do as they please. However, the engines are great to me in that they do what I want them to do. I don't know where you got the 525hp figures, but you might as well take the dyno numbers and throw them out the window. I am doing two (2) MPH faster in flat water compared to my previous engines---and that is on a very high humid day at 5400-5500rpm and I wasn't "in it" for long.

If my boat is going faster than what it previously did, at what point Doug, do YOU need to be satisfied about my engines, and the power they make? My boat goes faster with smaller cams in my 565's than those cams that were in my 540's before. My engines idles at 700rpm in NEUTRAL which is a much bigger difference than in gear as you said yours does. Recently, I saw a new Fountain with Merc's 502cid 525efi's in it. I was very supprised at how rough they idled compared to mine----but then I really like a smooth idle. Call me an old fart if you want, but I like a smooth idle, that was one of my desires in building these engines and still make decent power in a usable RPM range while doing so. Heck, I don't know how else to convey it to you----that's just how I wanted them! The boat cruises at 69.5mph @4000rpm on flat water. I suppose we could have used a larger cam and still made even more power with the engines---but it was my option, and decision NOT to do that, and go with a smaller cam.

The thing I don't understand is why you are belittling me on the combination in these engines when they were custom built to my order. They were built to my liking. At what point do you need to be satisfied about how my how engines perform and what parts components I use? I'm just glad I can afford what I can afford to go boating.

Are you satisfied in how your boat runs Doug??? If you are, then good for you.

It makes me feel warm and fuzzy to see guys on here like you being so helpful and supportive to fellow respected board members. Keep up the good work

Doug/Zone5,----whew, man you are so right----I guess it's a good thing that I make a living doing something other than building engines for a living then eh? I mean, I had to repair the mess that Jack/Budah did to my engines anyway. Not trying to break any world records. But hey, congrats on the performance of your boat. I'm glad you're satisfied. If you happen to come to Michigan please give me a call I'd love to go for a ride on your boat! Heck, I'd even invite you on my slow boat, but I guess it's doesn't measure up to your liking, and speed so well. :( Guess I'll have to hold out for one of those ZONE 5 Signature Series go fast boats one day. Dang, I guess that means I will have hang on to what I have for now---bummer.

Artic/Smitty, thanks for your support...I guess things are kinda slow over at BoatFreaks. So, don't mind ol' Doug/Zone5...he, and I go way back.....besides, he can't help himself---he was an abused child.

Doug, You're right---it goes a whole lot deeper than what can be posted on here, so I guess it's best that we agree to disagree.

March, 19 '05 to August 3, '05. And I had to go somewhere else to get it dyno'd.

I gave him a Merc shortblock to spec and balance, complete heads to just cc, check and reassemble. He milled .010" off deck faces, put 2 holes in v.c.'s, 1 hole in intake top for PCV grommet and 1 tapped hole in intake front face for wp bypas, and assembled. $2700. Was not impressed with productivity. Waited at dyno for 6 weeks; dyno interface died.
