Project was started before Christmas by asking everyone on the board for advice on how to upgrade my gen VI 454 mag carbs on my 97 Eliminator Daytona. Several gray hairs and lots of money later here is the end product. Maiden voyage was this past weekend at Lake Cumberland. All went well, a couple of oil leaks the only problem! The motors were very impressive idle quality was good. Idled and started perfect. Ran as flawlessly as any EFI. Neck snapping acceleration. Thanks to Tyler Crockett for selling me the right components and for technical help, Kevin"Skinny"Cudiff at MPH Motorsports for the wrenches and build and Fred at Trick Marine for getting me out of some jams. Here are the photos. The first photos are of the motors as they looked when they were pulled and the parts.

Before the motors were pulled they were compression checked and then the short blocks were inspected after disassembly and were in perfect condition. Parts selected were Brodix custom CNC ported to Tyler Crockett specs., Cam Motion Cams with 114 lobe seperation, 227 on the intake, 235 on exhaust, Crane roller hydraulic lifters, Scorpion roller rockers, Custom length pushrods, Fel-pro head gaskets, ARP studs, Cloyes hex adjust tru roller timing chain, Quick Fuel boost referenced modified 750 carbs, MSD Ignition, Holley blue electric fuel pumps, Eickert thermostatic remote oil filters, Dana exhaust. Replaced couplers and got XR lowers. Many other trinkets from Fred.
After the motors were pulled I spent a lot of time cleaning up, replacing bilge pumps, replacing old looking cushion clamps and adding fuel pressure and boost guages.

One of the biggest problems with the installation was the lack of available space. Fred at Trick got me out of one of the first seen problems by having Dana make me a custom riser for the outboard exhaust. Check out how tight the manifold is to the side of the boat! Dana used photos to do a mock up and they sent them to me to try on the boat. I sent them back to be finished. Wanted to use sea strainers, but no room for a clean installation.

The compressed photos don't do the motors justice, they a painted with great detail and look great. The stock motors ran 74 mph@4600. This past weekend had my family and Kevin aboard and did not want too run it too hard until some break in but it ran 88 on gps @ 4400 with Lots of throttle and 1100 rpms available with 31p. Herring 5's. Thanks to all on the board who contributed thoughts and now I am happy to get to put some hours on these motors! Eric

The motors were stock 454 mag carbs, the first picture shows one of the stock motors as it came out. I do have a better shot of the custom riser Fred had Dana make I will post.
