Re: Drive Oil Leak
Jjones,
You should fill to the top plug and put the plug back in.. then continue to fill till the resovior fills..
I would run it a couple of more times.. if it continues to go down.. then you have a problem. Pull the drive back so the check valve is closed on the hose to the resovior and do a pressure check. I check them at 10psi for 24 hours.. I made an adapter that has 3/8-16 thread on one end and 1/8" pipe on the other with a tee.. Well actually it came off a TPI small block chevy.. oil sender by the distributer.. But I have the gauge on it and a shrader valve. Squeeze a bit of air into it and see what happens.
One other thing, are you running it hard? And what about a drive shower?
Another thing to check, look for water in the oil.. Pull the bottom plug.. after the drive has sat all the way down overnite..
Hope this helps.. I had to add some about 3 or 4 times once.. to get all the air out. Then it leveled out..

Re: Drive Oil Leak
You MAY NOT have anything wrong. More often than not when you rebuild a drive with new gears and bearings, there is a lot of room for air pockets in the bearing and gears itself. It is very important to keep a close check on the oil level, but if you are not having any leaks on the outside of the drive you are probably OK. This happens to us all the time.

Re: Drive Oil Leak
Can you make an adapter that screws to the top of the fill bottle and put 10 lbs in it or does it have to be pressurized from bottom
