454 mag mpi upgrade
 

Im pulling the motor to fix a cracked piston want to upgrade while its out does any body know best set up im not going crazy with it but everybody tells me i can do a heads and cam change that will wake the motor up thanks Randy

You can't do any changes like that without remapping the ECU.

Yea i thought I would have to do that just thought there might be a certain set up someone had tried

Don't bother unless you are going to ditch the MPI. There are a few on here that have tried it, and it wasn't worth the $$. The MPI settup really limits the hp that you can make.

Possibly sell your motor and upgrade to a 454 mag or 502? Just my 2 cents worth.... :drink:

If you have the 454MAG version, you can make about another 100hp or so with modded stock heads, cam, exhaust and ecu upgrade. There are a few vendors who will sell you the whole package.
Tyler Crockett, located in Michigan, 810-324-2720 came up with this upgrade several years ago for the 502mag, and it applies to the 454mag as well. Its a dyno proven package. You can send them the engine, or they can send you the parts.
Teague also has a kit as well.
