What did I break?
 

Putting boat in hoist, Outdrive was trimmed all the way up,
I hit the throttle instead of the shift lever. Lots of U-joint noise and now no forword or reverse. Any ideas what broke?

You may have broke the u-joint! Remove the drive ande start from there.

Sounds like u-joint or coupler. You need to remove the drive like metioned before and see what's going on.

pulled drive - blew out both U-joints, both drive shaft ends, broke bell housing, ripped the bellows. Wow - all from one wave while docking the boat.

How does the U-joint assembly come out. I removed the retaining nut - now what?
Anybody got a bell housing laying around?

I'm guessing when you pulled the drive the joints were broken and the shaft stayed in the gimbal bearing??? The shaft will just pull out with a little effort, it just slides through the gimbal bearing and into the engine coupler.

I broke both the shaft that slides into the gimbal bearing and the shaft that goes to the upper gear. The shaft connecting to the gear is the one I need help getting out.

If you can't find a bell housing out your way I know I've got a few. Let me know.
