what would 496/ho do without resonators

i think i have a bad resonator (sounds like exhaust leak, but can't find one). what would happen if i removed them.
i figure it would run leaner, but would it be dangerously lean?
do you have to re-calibrate ecm if you add headers?

I pulled my resonators and the restrictor plates out and gained aobut 200 rpm.

My Question Is ;will Removing These Items Cause Bad Water Reversion With The Silent Choice/muffler Option In The On Position ????

NO, the resonators and restrictor plates do not affect reversion and stock 496 engines do not develop reversion. If your exhaust tips are below the bottom level of your risers bottoms you should not develop any problems with these items out, unless your boat sits in the water between uses a lot, especialy if its in salt water.
