My shorepower cord connection was bad even though it metered good. (The sealed male connection) I replaced it and it solved my problem.

The boat's circuit breakers read the dock ground fault as a short and trip the breakers on the boat. Try it without a ground fault and you will verify this.

You may find that the boat is wired with the green and white leads joined at the box, this seems to be normal practice for some manufacturer's. If it is like that then a GFI will trip as soon as you plug in. You will find that typically the 30 amp service at docks is not GFI protected.

I have seen that too. I can't believe that they would leave themselves so liable.

That's what I'm going to do...wire the shorepower receptacle to the house side of the GFCI on the dock. That will prove it one way or the other.

Just to clarify for others, the GFCI on the dock doesn't trip...the circuit breaker on the boat trips.

If the dock gfi is NOT tripping then the dock breaker is not seeing a problem, either a miss wire at the dock or ground/neutral problem at the dock.

For clarifying the boat's main breaker is NOT a GFI breaker correct?
