CMI exhaust leak Help
I need some help with the cause of an exhaust leak on my starboard CMI elbow exhaust system. There is a water drip and exhaust leak at the clamp just past the elbow at idle. I think it has to do with the tailpipe seating but I am not sure what to do? Any Help?

Thanks guys I will give it a try. That is what I was hoping to hear. The guys at a marina I took it to in the thousand islands told me that the headers and exhaust on the CMI only last about 2 seasons and then they crack so I was a bit worried. Just bought the boat about 3 weeks ago.

Re: CMI exhaust leak Help
If you are referring to the cool collar joint, there should be no chance of water leaking there unless you are experiencing some reversion. That joint should be dry. I would make sure that no water is getting into the heads.
I just upgraded power this season and ended up with the same issue. The headers were allowing the motor to revert water. I fixed it by going to full dry tails. Anyone looking for a pair of almost new standard Bravo CMI wet tails?? I have a pair for sale. |
Re: CMI exhaust leak Help
It is reversion. It is 99% likely that it is NOT getting to the motor.
Just put in 2 gaskets and you'll be good. Been there - done that. :drink: |
Re: CMI exhaust leak Help
Thanks I appreciate the help with this issue. I already bought another gasket in hopes it would be the cure.
