Drive Oil Reservoir

My drive reservoir bottle is leaking from the fitting at the bottom of the bottle, but only when the engine is running. I have not had the chance to take it apart yet for inspection, but I was wondering if it could be anything other than a crack in the bottle or a bad fitting? It’s one of the old cylinder style bottles. Thanks for any input.

The drive bottle is under a slight pressure whilst running. Probably is a crack. You could replace with new style if you can't locate old style.

Thanks. I hope that's it. I haven't been able to find the old one so I suppose I will upgrade it.

Teague makes a pricey Billet one that has a 100 for the bling factor. Check out the latest Powerboat Mag for a picture in the Summers Buyer Guide Section.

While your at it check out my add!

Do not buy the round rez if you find them, Notorious leakers.

part # 3A48 $66.95 http://www.mercstuff.com/monitorinstructions.htm

Same for both sides, I swapped mine, real easy. Mount to your transom.

Good luck,

BTW - with all due respect to Teague , more than once i have been sent the wrong part and had to return - including the rez bottles - told mount to transom not exhaust. what did they send me? wrong one and when I called back said was all they had. and i paid for shipping both ways :(

Thanks. I looked all over for those round ones, and there they are. I'm going to switch it out for the square one, so it will match the other side.

Re: Drive Oil Reservoir

FYI.

I took the old drive bottle out last weekend, and replaced it with the new style. At first glance the old bottle seemed fine, but after adding some pressure, the bottle had some very small cracks on both sides that caused it to drip fluid.

Thanks for everyone's input. I'm back in business.

I just went through the same thing with the new style bottles.
