A BW will have a tag that says "Velvet Drive" on the left side.

Merc tranny has bellhousing and trans all cast as one unit. Doesn't bolt in the rear, it slides into the inner transom plate.

Ive heard the term "green tag transmissions " kicked around when talking about TRS set ups..........what is that.......?????

These are Borg Warner Velvet Drive trannies. These are 71's (10-17-xxx), but the 72's (10-18-xxx) look the same, just a little bigger.

Look for this ID tag.

10-18's are the way to go if you have bigger HP and you're looking to buy something.
