Looking at a Baja with a 500HP motor..

motor and boat have about 250 - 300 hours. Motor has never been rebuilt. Seems like a motor like that is gitting close. What do you guys think? Also I remember something about those motors having valve spring problems. Any thoughts?

do a compression test & a leakdown test. even compression numbers & leakdown 10% or less would be good numbers.
plan on changing valve springs anyhow.
