Hydromotive Q4
I purchased a used HC-CL26R Q-IV when I try it on my Bravo drive the spline sticks out past the end of the prop and it won't lock down has anyone else had this problem? I can make a different spacer but I wondered if this is common.

Re: Hydromotive Q4
I wonder if you have one for for a 1.25" XR shaft. Does the prop wobble on the shaft? If not, then you may be using the wrong or no castle nut. The hydro takes a very short castle nut that can be a little difficult to find. A really good merc dealer will have one. A good prop shop will have one, or you can turn to Hydromotive.

Re: Hydromotive Q4
The prop seems to fit the shaft I plan to make a spacer tomorrow that will extend past the spline so the nut will lock it down.
Thanks |
Re: Hydromotive Q4
Stupid question, but you are using the brass spacer that has splines after the prop?? There should be about 1/4" of spline after the prop for this piece, before the lock washer and nut.

Re: Hydromotive Q4
There is a brass spacer behind the prop 3" dia. with a taper with that in place I have 1/2 " of spline at the top with the prop on. The spring washer sits on the spline unlike the fit on my Mirage and won't lock the prop it slides up and down on the sline. The brass spacer appears to not have a tall enough step on it.

Re: Hydromotive Q4
You definetly are using the wrong castle nut. The nut is not a simple spacer. There are splines and some grooves for the locking tabs. One could proably be cut from a flo-torque hub castle nut, but why not just buy one?

Re: Hydromotive Q4
The nut I've got is one of those anti theft type goes in a cup with a spring washer that seats on the prop. I sent Throttle up and see what they suggest.
Thanks |
Re: Hydromotive Q4
If that prop doesn't work for you, let me know. I'll buy it back from you...

Re: Hydromotive Q4
To mount a standard shaft Hydromotive with the welded in hub you need the following Mercury/Quicksilver parts. These are commonly available, if you have a hard time finding them give us a call we have them in stock.
thrust washer 12-835467 1 or 12-835467 5. On the aft end of the prop you need; 12-31211A3. Then the lock washer and nut. Matt |
