New Member: Formula Problems
 

Hello all,
My name is Aaron and have a 25' Formula. This season the boat seems to be taking on an unusually large amount of water. It has a Bravo 3, are there any known issues for leaking? I can only fear its an exhaust leak or something similar if its not leaking from the outdrive.

Secondly, we took the boat out today after after about a mile it started breaking up. We were still able to run at ~3k rpm for another 5 minutes. After 10 minutes, it wouldn't do anything more than idle. The fuel filter is new as of this summer. We pulled the fuel filter and dumped it expecting to find dirt, rust, or water. Instead, a clear pint of gasoline. The isses feels like fuel, but I'm not certain. Any first places to troubleshoot?

Trim gauge also isn't working, but not my top priority, I'd like to get the boat running first!

The leaking could be the bellows behind the drive. can you see on the transome where the water is comeing from?

Your right, it does sound like a fuel problem. Is there another screen or filter on the carb inlet? Or is it fuel injected? It could be your fuel pump.

I can't see the water coming in. It seems like it may only be doing it when the drive is up. We've stared at it for a good 10 minutes while cruising to see it gushing in. Then we pull the boat out and it drains about 40 gallons of water. Mind you, the boat has only been in the water 3 times this year and by the time I figured it was probably only coming in in the 'up' position, we were having other problems.

It *looks* like a straight shot from the filter to the carb. I don't know enough about carbs to tear it down yet. I want to be certain it is the carb before I start shooting springs out of it.

Put the boat on the trailer, put the plug in, then put some water in the bilge and see if you can find where it comes out. You can even put food coloring in the water to make it easier to spot. Tilt the drive up and down.
