HP500 Valve Springs..How long should it take to change?

I took my boat to a shop to have the valve springs replaced on my twin, 500 carbs. It has been there for three weeks. How long can it take to change a set of valve springs with the mills still in the boat? I realize it is a P.I.T.A but come on.
Seriously though, they are averaging less than one cylinder per day:eek:. I should have done it myself.
Does anyone know the time that I should be billed for with this procedure?
The star. eng, 0 broken springs. The Port eng, 6 broken springs. Good thing its getting done. luckily the broken springs did not damage the engine.
I just think three weeks is a little excessive, am I out of line here?
Thanks

Hind sight, It was a bad call on my part but my friend ownes the friggin marina. He is no mechanic, and I know the mechanics are milking this job. I get so pissed but it is past the point of no return. I can't wait till this experience is over.

Now thats along time  I can see a day or two at the most, but three weeks. What kind of back log did they have when you dropped the boat off? At least we tell you up front that we are 4 weeks out before we can even look at it. I cant stand it when you here of guys telling there customers, "Bring over well get started on it" Yeah, OK!

The "REAL" boating season in Mi(where its actually warm enough out to have fun and waters not cold) is from about june 15th to sept 1st,about 10 wks MAX,at this rate your going to mis 1/2 of it! :( . I can empathize with you,i waited for tail pipes for first 5 wks of seaon then i have been working bugs out and its getting frustrating missing prime boating season,Smitty

This spring I did mine on my old
boat over a weekend.

You're probably not going to like my next
recommendation, but, being you had broken springs,
I'd be changing the lifters too.

The needle bearings in the rollers can get
pounded.....eventually causing lifter/cam
failure.......Then you're pulling an engine.
