Re: air problem

Two things, one I wouldn't recomend opening the hatch at any speed that's a real quick way to be hatchless(wich would solve you problem) number two the problem is that the engine cant breathe. never seen the problem with such a mild engine. check and make sure the vents aren't restricted and if need be you can figure out a way to enlarge them or add scoops.

Yeah, what he said!!! Also take a look at the bilge vents in the side, I have seen some boat builders put them in wrong.. both facing aft. One should be forward and one back. Or more if you have them. :D

The vents are not restricted and they are facing the right way. Will it be safe to put another set of vents on the side or go with the scoop on the hatch.
Thanks,Ray

Re: air problem

A friend of mine had that problem with a 39 Velocity with some stout motors in it,,,,they actually cut a hole in the engine hatch, put a piano hinge system with electric opener on it and the reupholstered it...it was good for app 150 rpms. with the pop-up open..and Velocity already has those naca ducts running up the sides of the deck.
