Also look at the exhaust logs....never seen a BBC with a pattern like that. Should have equally spaced ports.

This are definatelly unique and possibly rare components but they are not BBC.

I did not even look at the VC's .....but I agree.

Anyone else having trouble with the site being slow today?

The single round tubes in the center connect together to join the two plenums for better intake tuning -- that was one of the problems with the chevy cross ram that had no connection between the two...........

Come on Bob! By now I expected pictures of those two piece intake manifolds for the small block Chevy with the two four-barrel set-up! Can't go down memory lane without them! Lou

Re: OK, what was the reason for this old Edelbrock stuff?

That's a cross ram setup for a big block chrysler, 62-64 vintage.
I had that setup on my 64 big block Sport Fury. Very nice. Gobs of torque.
The crossover tube is to equalize the manifolds. If you look at the second picture, under the carb mounting flange, you can see the small flange where the exhaust manifold heater tube connects to heat the choke well.
This setup used low cast iron exhaust manifolds that the carb sat directly over. You had to take the intake off to remove the valve cover!
That's got to be worth big bucks now.

I have worked on some of the original factory cross ram intakes and these are virtually identical to the Chrysler Cross Ram setups (right down to the equalizer tubes) from the late 50’s and early 60’s. They were originally developed for the Speedways (300 series) and eventually made there way into drag racing. The Ramchargers ran them on their 413 wedge motors. In the 60’s some companies were running Mopar engines in marine applications. In those days Edelbrock would manufacture intake manifolds very similar in design to the factory pieces (Smokey Ram, BBC Mystery Motor ram intake). Some interesting history in these pieces.
Bob

Smokey Yunic was invovled with the development of that stuff and yeah the history is realy intersting. If you guys ever have the time you should pickup some books about him the guy was a geniuos. He basically invented the flow bench amingst allot of other things that we consider standard today. He was a hell of a charchter too.
