how to identify engine without plate???
hi all,
i would like to know how to identify my engine if the plates missing where the number is stamped,would be good to know for ordering spares.all i know is its a merc v6 approx year of manufacture is 93,2 stroke with oil injection,any ideas?

hi,ive just got back from boat and heres all the numbers i can find on it
stamped on the cylinder head is 96531.
on the carbs is wh22-1
just below flywheel is ob34218000.
on the engine mount is ob314218
and on the leg is 1590-8334
any ideas as to what mercury engine it is???
any help would be much appreciated.

The number you said that was on the engine mount should be the serial #. When I ran the number it came back as a Mariner 2.4 liter. The year didn't come up though. If I find it I'll repost it for you.

thanks for your reply,im sorry but im not a full member so i cant read your attached photo.please send it to [email protected],one thing that puzzles me is isnt a mariner supposed to be grey,my outboard is black and looks like original paint.
