Merc Flywheel Housing

Are they they same for the most part on different Chevy engine combos that Merc offered? I noticed that they look alike on my 502-bravo, 350-bravo, and my old 350 #1 setup.

Re: Merc Flywheel Housing

Careful, the early 7.4's Bravos and other styles had a smaller opening for the triangular coupler. A regular Bravo coupler will not fit.

He asked about 3, and didnt specify age. I just wanted to point out to him that they arent all the same, in case he was looking at buying a used one.

I've Got em. If you need one send me a PM
Thanks , BBB........ BTW , sometimes you will see these on 5.7's or even 4.3's with the small coupler and the big hole.
Many motors came like this. They may have done this from the factory for a certain time period. I've seen many 4.3's around '90 or so with these bravo housings. If I had more time I'd go around to local marinas and swap out bell housings from motors that are out of boats. Bravo coupler is the way to go. Be careful about buying one on e-bay. I bought alot of them in the past , recently threw away 2 due to bad splines. I should have inspected them better when I got them. Would have been better off wiping my butt with the money !!! Beware of aftermarket alignment tools too !!! Aftermarket tools are not as precice and are not complete .
The right tool from Merc. only costs $ 87 . I just had a comeback with an aftermarket tool. My Glm tool was on loan , so I used one I got on E-bay. After wirewheeling off excessive coating , to make it fit gimbal bearing, and after making adjustments to motor mounts , it went right in and out easily. Was not adjusted right however !!! never again.
The Merc tool has a centering tool built in. Hope this helps, BBB
