I have a 1990 Checkmate with a 502. My pump on the front of the motor is leaking water from the bottom of the pump. What is better, a crossover or just put on a new pump and call it a day? Those new pumps are high dollar!! I do like the stainless look of those cross overs though.

No supercharger no crossover, that's my opinion, you cant run a t-stat with a crossover, you have to run some form of a poppet or gate valve if you want the engine to run at the right temp, or you can let it run cold and watch how much condensation you get in your oil. Botom line is it's not worth the headache to properly set up your engine to run a crossover unless you have a need for one.

i've had good luck with crossovers. just drill a couple quarter inch holes in the thermostat so it will open properly. if you don't drill holes the engine will cycle between overheating & cold. you may have to add a hole or make them bigger until
the water temp stabilizes & the thermostat functions properly. the holes allow water to flow past the thermostat so it will react quickly to temp changes.

cross over complete set up is much more than a new circulator pump. I just replaced a pump on mine and was only $110 new. bought on line somewhere, if interested I'll find the name for you, box still in garage.

Thanks guys. Looks and sounds like I'll just replace the pump. Sounds the easiest and the cheapest..
