Oil Temp Problem
I feel that I am running excessive oil temps. Just cruising around 3K will drive them up to over 270, I then drop back to 2500rpm and they cool back down, but usually stay around 230. It has been speculated that I have the original smaller oil coolers that came the the 454s. Not that I am running 502s they might be too small.
Any thoughts on this??? And if they need replacing where to get some??? Thanks for the help. John |
Re: Oil Temp Problem
Did this just start after you changed to 502's. What temps did the original engines run. I have the standard cooler and it peaks at 240 degrees when I spin it above 4,500 RPMs.

Re: Oil Temp Problem
These motors were in the boat when I bought it, so don't know about before.
Also, I had to freshen one up last year because of a problem and its temp is within a few degrees of the other one with more time on it. Thanks again. John |
