Drive Res. Sensors?

On a 2000 454mag efi can you run with the Drive Res. Sensors unplugged? if so both or one wires, if not can you buy pass them if needed. I looks like it just completes a ground when it bottoms out setting off the alarm.

Re: Drive Res. Sensors?

If you are haveing problems with the sensor you can run with it unhooked, you can unhook one or both of the wires and just tape over the ends for a temporary fix. The switch just makes a connection when it bottoms out. The reason they ussualy fail is becuase people don't clean the resevoir out during a drive service. Alot of parafin builds up if you run merc oil and the float becomes unable to move. Sometimes they just fail though either way yare fine to run with it unhooked just keep an eyes on the drive lube level.
