overheating problem solved
 
had an impeller with small tears at the base of the vanes, didn't see them when i inspected them the other day but were very easy to see when i disasembled the pump.

Good new that you caught it before you got to pic pieces out of your oil cooler.

great to hear, new impellar every year, should be part of your spring maintenance. Sitting, not use is the death of impellars.

these were rebuilts i bought from randy at cobra, the first time i ran the boat on the hose and had to rev that motor 3k to get water to start flowing initially. i ran it on the hose for 10 mins setting the idle then hit the water, it started overheating as soon as i fed it the coal. this weekend we will find out the top speed. oh yeah, i'm praying for some slop this weekend the gulfs been glassy the lasty two weekends. ratman
