Bravo Questions.........
Ok, I know this has question has been beat to death….. HP Vs the Bravo one. I have a 251 Checkmate That will be getting a new motor. I am looking at the two ZZ motors from GM 454 or the 502. The 454 is rated at 440 the 502 is 500. My bravo is a 1990. Will it last behind the 502. The 502 is only $300 more than the 454. Should I take the 60hp loss from the 454 for a safety cushion from the 500hp “line drawn in the sand” max for a Bravo? Or go for the 502 and the added HP? Thanks in advance for your input…..

Re: Bravo Questions.........
I think you'll be fine even with the 502.The 251 is a light boat and that is right at the bravo's limit. As with any boat be sensable coming on plane as well as airing it out.

Re: Bravo Questions.........
It'll live behind the 502. Unfortinatly, neither of those motors are for a marine application. Keep shopping.

Re: Bravo Questions.........
My stock bravo lasted almost 2 seasons behind procharged 502(approx 650 hp) w/26 pitch prop in baja 272. Went from 6 psi boost to 8-10,was fine, added lightning headers and jumped up to 28 pitch, broke the first time i got on it with that set up,Smitty
