Removing SSM 3 End Cap

How difficult is it remove the end cap on a SSM 3. I need to swap my 2 end caps. Will any gears try to push out the opening ? Do I need a new gasket (it is paper / felt, or some other material? Is there a torque setting when putting it back on? Or should I leave this one to a professional?

PRetty straight forward. Has an o-ring seal.
