Personally I like the VP setup better. The belt drive with crank driven sea pump is more simple and the double fuel pump mounted to the front of the engine is also nicer. The only thing nicer about the Merc version is the aluminum exhaust.
But with the price difference, you could buy a set of those new CMI headers... :D

All of the 496 motors are the exact same longblocks with different intake, ignition and accesories.
