Timing on 500EFI

Can someone please tell me where the timing should be set on a stock Merc 500 EFI.

Thank you

36 degrees. If you don't have a scan tool jump pins A and B on the DLC connector to put the motor in base timing mode. Set the timing to 8 degrees then verify its going to 36 when you rev the motor up to ~3500.

I do have a scan tool and checked it this weekend. Both engines are at 8 degrees advance, but only going up to 28 degrees at 3500 and up on RPM.

Was thinking that it should be around 32 to 34 degrees but did not know for sure.

I've never done it with a scan tool. If you're at 8 in base you should be fine.....the "plate" with "500EFI" and all info on top of mine call for 36 degrees right on them. Could have something to do with needing a load?
