Re: ITS drives

they differ,it depends what helm you have....it HAS to be for ITS and will be stamped as such...or you will have issues.i have seen builders install standard ones.

Re: ITS drives

The ITS requires about 16cu.in. of oil per drive to turn lock to lock. For twins you have a total of close to 32 cu.in. divided by the size helm, about 7-8 cu.in. per revolution is common for a twin ITS installation, which is in the neighborhood of 4+ turns lock-lock. This is where most builders aim for steering rate. I would call a reputable steering supplier (Latham, MarineMachine, IMCO, etc.) and tell them what you have, they will have what you need. The only difference I know for the ITS other than getting the correct sizing/steering rate, is that I believe Latham resets their internal cross port relief valves to a higher setting to correspond to the same setting or higher than the ITS standard ones. Some other suppliers don't include them in the helm, ITS puts them in the connection block at the drive, Latham includes them in their helms although they wouldn't be necessary on the ITS, just duplication.
