What kind of ring gap?

How big of a ring gap should I go with for this combo?
4.280 bore
forged TRW L2453F turbo pistons
Speed Pro Moly rings
10 LBS boost from twin turbos with intercooler
5600 RPM's

I was thinking of .028 for the top ring and .030 for the second ring. Are these good numbers?

I would run .030 to .032 for the top and the same for the bottom.

Re: What kind of ring gap?

Typically you should run the top ring gap larger than the second, because it is subject to more of the heat and will expand more than the second. Personally I am a fan of tighter ring gaps, after all the tightest you can get before they touch will seal the best and make the most HP. That said if they touch it will be bad news. Most ring manufacturers will give gap recommendations for certain applications, however I have found these recommendations tend to side on the safer side. If you know the bore was honed perfectly round (i.e. with a torque plate, with the mains torqued down) and has absolutely no taper, I would go with .006 per inch on the top ring and .005 per inch on the second... or if you really want to play it safe open it up to .007 and .006 per inch (.026 on the top, .022 on the 2nd or extra safe... .030 on top .026 on the 2nd).
