Cig 35 Cafe questions
 

I'm shopping for a used performance boat and found a few 1989 20th anniversay edition Cafe Racers on the market here in the north east. The last 35 Cig I was a Mistress over 10 years ago, so I really can't use this as a fair comparison. Any comments on how the Merc Bravo powered Cafe's of the late 80's run compared to the newer ones or the straight hull 38 TG's? I also don't know if they ever changed the 35 Cafe hull over the years it was produced. I think they are built and handle well, but my concern is that with the vented hulls and the new layup techniques the older Cigs might not be competitive with the newer boats, unless you throw crazy power in them. There's always someone with a faster boat, but If I spend this much I want to go at least 80. Thanks for any info.

How much do you mean when you say "this much"?

I think to get a Cafe to 80 you're going to need 650 HP+...

Tnaks for the reply. I poseted here for 2 reasons 1) The rules have changed and "regular" members apparently can no longer post to owner forums. 2) I wanted to get some unbiased feedback. What I meant by "this much" was I can buy something comperable on the used market (perhaps without the brand image of Cigarette) that cost 20k less and goes 10-20 mph faster.

Joe,

It's all a matter of what you're looking for. A cigarette is going to hold its value much better than some of the other boats, and usually hold up better. But it is going to be slower! All what you want out of it.
