Stupid mistake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
While suctioning the oil out of my pan, a 3" piece of the polyethylene tubing caught on the dipstick tube and broke off in the pan.
I couldn't find it through the dipstick or drain hole. It shoould be under the windage tray. Should I just leave it in there or try dropping the pan (which is a huge PITA on this motor.? Gary |

Gary However it's your call. Polyethylene is pretty soft stuff when heated and most likely wont cause a problem unless you have trapdoor type oil pan. |
Re: Stupid mistake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even the softest polyethylene has a melting point of around 270 degrees. My oil never gets over 240.
No trapdoor, and the piece probably is not beg enough to significantly clog the oil pickup, even if it did got soft enough to deform. So I'll probably leave it and watch my oil pressure carefully! Gary |
