Dimension on #6 drive

Could someone tell me the distance from the prop shaft center to the bottom of the cavitation plate on a #6 drive.

I am trying to determine what is acceptable for distance between prop tip and bottom of cavitation plate. I assume 18" props would be the largest for the #6.

Thanks,
Rick

That sounds about right. I can measure mine tonight. I assume nobody makes prop bigger than will fit a six.

Mark,
I am thinking about making a spacer for our #5's that has a cavitation plate like the #6. It is a little scary looking down in the water from the swim platform.

Brad, thanks let me know what you find out. As long as you have the tape out could you also tell me the width of the plate over the prop.

I was pretty sure but I had to check to be safe, the measurement from the bottom of the cav. plate to propshaft centerline is 9.5". As far as the width of the ventilation plate it is tapered. The end is 6" and 11" in from the end of the plate is 9".

Hope this helps everyone out.

For anyone interested, we have a set of empty polished gearcases for sale. #6 dry sump's. The skegs have been cut narrower but the stock length is still there. Email me if you need pictures or more info.

Oh ya, the cav. plate on the #5 measures 6 1/8" if your not near your boat.

My measurments are the same. My 17.25 props leave 3/4 inch of room.
