Re: How much power through an alpha??

I agree with most of the above; it's the sequential shock of getting hard on the throttle, catching air, coming back onto the water and doing it all over again that's death to the innards.

How does the 242 run with 350 hp? I was looking at 242's when i found this boat,I could not pass it up at the price I paid.

I blew both of my alphas.......both were heat related failures on stock power.......change oil often/put a Simrek shower on it..........

i had a 92 206 rinker put in a 400h /350 crate motor imco exhaust(no drive shower )and twice had the pleasure of tearing up the upper gear. i could have been a little more gentile with it but where is the fun in that?? both times it happened you could see it was heat related failures( alpha 1 gen2) hope you have better luck

Re: How much power through an alpha??

Alphas with the later, upgraded, forged gears, and a good drive shower, would probably handle 400+ a little. However, it is the torque that will kill it. A strong BB with 400 hp will scatter it if you are not REAL careful. --- Jer
