MSD 6AL with stock coil is that OK?
I just put an MSD 6AL on my 502 Thunderbolt VI with the original coil. Is the stock coil fine or do I need to put a Blaster coil on. The stock seems fine right now with about 5 hours so far.

I would say it should work fine , but I have always put the High Vibration coil with the box and now runnung a complete MSD box, coil and dist.

wont hurt anything , but you will not be creating as hot of a spark as you would if you used their coil as a pair. more efficiently if you use their coil.

I was thinking the same thing that the stock coil wouldn't be as efficient. Thanks for the input.

Re: MSD 6AL with stock coil is that OK?
just as a point of interest, in auto racing applications, the msd 6 has proven itself to be the single most unreliable piece of junk in the history of ignition components.... if you look at any cup or busch car you will always see two and often three of them mounted in the interior...thats so they can get to the end of 500 miles and still have at least one that works. they are blue and nascar approved " factory " ignitions but they are msd 6's. and in road racing , they have proved so failure prone that no one uses them at all anymore.

I've always attributed that honor to Mallory... From personal experience.
