Winterizing Question
I don't usually take my drives (BravoI's) off the boat for winter storage unless I know I want to work on them through the winter. Is there a good reason to store them inside for the winter? I have never had trouble when I left them on in the past.
Thanks  |
Re: Winterizing Question
No reason to take them off. They will be fine. Just dont leave your boat in a lift over salt water for the winter because it will corrode everything.

Re: Winterizing Question
I would suggest pulling outdrives at least every 2-3 years depending on the hours run in order to visually inspect the universals and gimble brg. And DO trim down for long term storage so as not to stress the bellows. --- Jer

Re: Winterizing Question
I'd pull 'em every start of the season to grease the u-joints.

Re: Winterizing Question
should pull once a year to check bellow, gimbel brg, and grease shaft and u joints and to check engine aliginement small price to pay if something goes wrong

Re: Winterizing Question
Thanks for the reply's. I will pull them in the Spring for inspection and lubrication - but they are staying on the boat through the winter.

Re: Winterizing Question
a) if bellows is leaking do you want water sitting in there though the winter to damge u joints seals and eat away at the housing???
b) did you at least change you drive oil ???? |
Re: Winterizing Question
Goodt is right. If you are going to bother to pull them at all; Now is the time to do it! --- Jer
