If the alternator is working you should have approx. 14.5 volts DC at your battery when the vehicle is running. If 14.5 volts is present - your alternator is charging your battery. If the battery has less than that you have an alternator problem. You can check this with a volt meter set on DC with the red lead on the positive terminal and the black lead on the negative terminal.

If the problem is in the Durango the charger has to feed it and the battery, I would disconnect it and charge it to see if it charges better. If it does charge OK you will also get a nice little when you go to hook up the cables. At any rate it should be a dealer thing!

If I remember right, you should see 12.3-12.7 at battery with engine off. Running it should be around 13.5-13.7. 14.5 seems high. |
