What is the finish on the sportmaster lower? Can they be left in fresh water? will one bolt to a std. X upper? Thanks, Chris

wouldnt leave in water for the most part they are bare alum.

as for bolting to a stock x drive they will but why only as strong as the weakest link, in this case it would be the upper gears.....

the gear change is done on the upper of a x and done in the lower of the sportmaster/xr.

I'm not sure about the -2 sportmaster but if you are trying to bolt a standard length sportmaster lower to a XR upper then you will need longer studs than the normal XR lowers use. I have a set of sportmaster XR's and when I changed the lowers to -2 imco shorties the studs were too long.
