Beehive valve springs
Has anyone used these yet? Comp Cams claims that they reduce valve spring oscilations because the coils are different diameters. They also reduce valve float becuae they are lighter. Because of this they claim you can pick up 20-30 HP verses a dual valve spring.

Re: Beehive valve springs
Ask Fritz what he thinks! Would they use them on a C6R?

Re: Beehive valve springs
Whiteknuckle, who are you, anyhow I asked him and he did not know that Comp made them for BBC. People I have talked to said that they are a lot better than a double spring, but they are speaking from experience that revloves around small blocks. Has any used them?

Eibach has done a great deal of development in this area. I know their spring has been used very successfully in certain GM platforms. Without knowing your specifics I can't say if they have a spring that will meet your needs. The lead engineer there is: [email protected] I am sure they will be happy to answer your questions. http://www.eibach.com/ Bob |

Re: Beehive valve springs
I was planning on using them on
my HP500's last spring, At the time, they only had 1 type of retainer, went to install, couldn't get correct installed height ( too short) Didn't feel like pulling heads, so I passed on them. |
Re: Beehive valve springs

Re: Beehive valve springs
Hot Rod magazine did a test on these a few months ago. They were using a ZZ454 crate motor for their "Every trick in the book" series. They tried manifolds, headers, air cleaners, electric water pump, and bee hive valve springs. They worked wonders until they replaced the small cam with a bigger one, then the valve float came back. A search should net you the results. The water pump test proved that a crossover is worth about 15 hp.
