The newer inboards and v-drives use standard rotation engines with a reversing transmission on one side. Other than Marine Power in Louisiana, I don't know of anybody building a new opposite rotation engine these days.

As already stated: "usually, but not always" I serviced a 24' Cig. for years that came direct from the factory with a reverse rotation Mercrusier Cyclone, B/W trans. and RH rotation TRS drive using a LH wheel. Now THAT was one weird set-up! The steering was on the port side also to compensate for torque. So remember; Just when you think you have everything figured out, somebody does something like that to you. Merry Christmas! --- Jer

Also, the cam gear is pressed on a reverse rotation. The cam and the gearset is the only change from right to left.
Then your fireing order will be different on the left hand. On the Thunderbolt dist. cap is set up for both firing orders if you have the older style mercurisers.

But don't forget that the starter and starter drive clutch/gear are different also with reverse rotating engines. --- Jer
