oil temp sensor....

ok.... obviously have the boat up and running and reasonably dialed in and sea trials done and ready to do the final fitting out. carpets , put all the screws back in the dashboard and interior, put the head liner back up that fell down the other day after a long flight and hard landing... etc etc...

at anyrate.... the dash has oil temp gages as you would expect and the old motors had oil temp sensors drilled into a adapter plate that was used to remote mount the oil filters.... i can't see anyplace on these 502 mag mpis to put the oil temp sensors unless i put that sandwhich plate back in which i can do but they're ugly etc.... remote mount the filter is un nec in this case....

question... is there a factory provided port anywhere for an oil temp sensor that anyone knows about before i invent one ?, please.

Re: oil temp sensor....

People have mounted them in the 3/8" port above the oil filter adapter pad on the block. As you would probably do on the dyno. Dont see any harm in this. This would reflect oil temp returning from the oil cooler I beleive and that would typically be 25* less than oil pan temps. (pre-cooler)

The places I can think of are
1/ oil pan,
2/ 3/8" port mentioned above
3/ oil filter adapter, which may need a ground
4/ make fitting to go in oil line to oil filter which would also probably need a ground
5/ change out oil temp guages for water pressure guages :D

I agree, however, I think he has twins and cant get to them. Not sure if the stock 502mag mpi has a bung there any way.

You could drill and tap the oil filter adapter possibly
